Since you are reading this, I’m asuming you care at least a bit. \ud83d\ude42 So, a short introduction might be in order for some readers… here goes: my name is Casper, I’m (at this moment) a 27 year old guy living in Voorburg, the Netherlands. I’ve been around the internet for quite some time now, and this is just another of my web domains. This site is mainly a braindump on all sort of things that go around in my head. I’ve become a big fan of Android. I’m currently owner of a Samsung Galaxy I7500. Yes, that’s the first Android phone by Samsung and I’ve certainly paid the price for it…<\/p>\n

I bought it just after the Dutch release, and unfortunately, Samsung dropped support on it after a mere 5 months. Fortunately, Android has a very lively open source community. Because of that, I now still have a working and updatable phone. I really want to emphisize on three projects that I’m follow closely. First, there is my current day-to-day ROM: Galaxo. It’s a ROM maintained by Drakaz<\/a>. If you have a Galaxy i7500, take a look at it. Secondly, there is a sweet ADW based theme called Darksense<\/a>. I really love the looks of it and combined with Galaxo it feels fast and stable. Thirdly, there is the kickass project GAOSP<\/a>. This is basically to push the Android Open Source Project to the Galaxy hardware and for the better part maintained by Drakaz. They are currently working on a Froyo port, which is maturing very rapidly. Please, take a look at it, marvel at it and buy those guys a beer.<\/span> Besides Android, I’ve become a fan of GIS applications. I’m a big fan of the OpenLayers<\/a> project, Mapserver<\/a>, GeoServer<\/a>, and more stuff like that. My ultimate goal is to create awesome GIS applications for Android. I’m also a fan of Joomla!<\/a> which I used to create this site. I’ve been working on an OpenLayers component for Joomla! as well. When that finally finishes (I’ve been on and off on it since 2008) I’m planning to release it on either an GPL or an LGPL license. Don’t expect that to be soon, if ever, though. \nBut these three projects are what triggered me to start focussing on Android development myself. I’m currently working on getting to know the application development first. But after that, I want to see if I can get the AOSP working as well.<\/p>\n
